Table 3: Literature

 

In Dewey, Table 3 is used only with the notations in schedule 800, Literature. This class is divided both by types of literature and countries of origin. 

 

 

Table 3 is a listing of various types of literature divided into numerical breakdowns. Here is the Summary list from Table 2:

These various divisions shown in the summary are further subdivided in the Table pages that follow. Detailed instructions are included directing the cataloger on the use of Table 3 with literature notations. We will look at a few simple examples, but the best use of Table 3 is made when the cataloger reads all of the directions carefully.
